JUSTIN'S WINE PICKS, FEBRUARY 10, 2013

Wines released for sale in Ontario on Saturday, February 16, 2013.

This month I opened the magazine featuring a lot of new wines with a feeling that disappointment loomed. Why I don't know? It didn't take long for me to realize that the opposite was the case.
There is such a wide range of truly outstanding wines here that I could actually picture my Mastercard flinching in horror!
So sit back and get ready for severe temptation. Our new Premier could certainly use the added revenue, so get out there and consume citizens! Think of every bottle helping to hold up the Gardiner expressway or better yet, securing my pension.
I was hard-pressed to limit my choices and I consider the wines listed below as somewhat special. Enjoy!

Best White: An interesting tie between two N. American Rieslings. Hogue Cellars Genesis Riesling 2010 Washington $18.95 and Fielding Riesling 2011 Niagara $18.95. Buy both for a neat comparison tasting.

Best Value White: Calamus Cosmic 2011 Niagara $13.95. Interesting blend of Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Citrusy, off-dry and delicious!
