JUSTIN'S WINE PICKS MAY 6, 2014

Wines offered for sale in Ontario on Saturday, May 10.

Fans of cult wines will want to invest in Opus One 2010 the famous wine developed by Robert Mondavi in collaboration with Baron Phillipe de Rothschild. By any standards this is a great wine which will age for +20 years. $459.00 for the full bottle, $245.00 for the 375 ml. Price make you choke up a bit? Consider that the 2006, also on offer here is going for $1075.00. That's over 100% on your investment in 4 years! I wish my RBS Shares went this way. The only problem would be that it is illegal for you to sell it in Ontario unless you donate it to a charity wine auction. Smuggling anyone?

Interesting fact: a shark will only attack you if your are wet. “ Sean Lock.

We had a fun wine experience at a dinner with some friends on Saturday. ( Thanks Mary & Henry ).
They opened a bottle of 2001 Geysenheimer, a white wine from Waupoos Winery in Prince Edward County. I was fearing that it would be off. 13 years is a lot of age for a white! It turned out to a great golden colour with a lively, refreshing citrus flavour. Very interesting! I will be paying Waupoos a visit this summer, not only for the wine but because it is a most beautiful location.
Great Reads: Consider The Fork by Bee Wilson, a fascinating history of common kitchen utensils and the story of kitchens in general. Really well written. Lost Light by Michael Connelly, another fine mystery starring Harry Bosch.
Thanks, Justin.
